Enrico's Italian Wine Program
Enrico’s Ristorante is located in the historic Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Our restaurant features market fresh cooking: our meals are roasted in a handcrafted woodburning oven imported from Rome, Italy; we have no freezers, deep fryers, or microwave ovens, but instead personal attention to every meal we serve. The restaurant seats forty at indoor tables, a dozen at the bar, and twenty outside when Pittsburgh’s climate permits.
A great strength of our operation, and our reputation, is that we focus on Italian wines (click for current list.). Our goal is to provide our guests with a unique wine experience by offering over 40 wines by the glass. The list changes frequently based on the availability of boutique wines and the tastes of our guests. We work closely with up to five vendors to navigate the hurdles of Pennsylvania laws and the nuances of Italian regions. Our close working relationship with the right vendors guarantees that we have an inspiring selection for our guests.

A monthly regional wine tasting is held the 2nd Tuesday of each month. We take our guests to a different region of Italy each month by tasting three of the region’s better wines paired with three different antipasti from that region. Tasting notes are available to each guest and after they have finished the regular tasting event, they are welcomed back to the to have a final taste of their favorite wine. $20 per person: on average some 40 to 50 guests continually attend each tasting.
We also feature a superb quarterly wine dinner. We typically prepare five food courses and pair each course with a complimentary wine selection. These wines are chosen not just from our menu, but also from what is available from our wine purveyors. During each course we discuss several features of each wine, where it is from, and why it was chosen for that particular course.  The wine dinners are reservation only and we fill the restaurant each quarter.

Perhaps the key to our success is our bar manager and resident oenophile Eric Leskovar. Eric makes the most of our wine selection at Enrico's with his expertise, welcoming personality, and the time he spends describing each individual wine to our guests and employees. His expertise puts the role of wine at the top of our menu and services to our customers, and has made Enrico’s Restaurant one of the best places in Pittsburgh to kick back and enjoy a great glass of Italian wine.
